Aside from FRLG Red, maybe Gold/Ethan, no boys are more popular than the girls, so it'll likely end up a bishoujo series, and if it continues to do well, they'll pull from where they can. Kris and Lyra are different characters - they have different names for a reason. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up doing RSE May & Torchic or Pt Dawn too.
