Gen VI only had two pairs, XY and ORAS, and V also only had two pairs, BW and BW2.
I usually try to wait until the end of a gen, to get all the content from it that's not in the previous versions (for example, BW2 has what BW1 has and more, and HGSS has some Platinum features along with a lot of new additions, and ORAS has everything XY had except for customization).
