Also, bad news for you, we're mid/late generation (console speaking) and Nintendo sold you the SECOND garbage home console in it, so it's not gonna last too long. When Nintendo releases an actual portable in the next console generation, Pokémon goes back to handhelds.

That doesn't change the fact GameFreak always gets an exception because of how much of a cash cow Pokemon is.
Even if you couldn't transfer Gen 1/2 Pokemon from VC to Gen 6/7, I guarantee you that savestates would still be impossible.

BotW is the flagship game of the console and already makes performance concessions with godawful framerate drops and lack of good AA just to squeeze out 2-3 hours of battery life. The very first game on the system has already set the bar for what the console will ever be able to do. We can't expect anything more ambitious; by going this meme "hybrid" route they've once again doomed themselves to alienating big third-party developers that would help push units.

If you truly believe that, then I'm afraid I've got some Bad News. Pokemon's golden era for all of us will never happen again, because it already happened for us. The Golden Age of Pokemon is that sweet spot when you first get into Pokemania. I experienced it when I was four or five when Red and Blue came out. It was still thriving when Gold and Silver came out. But after that everything feels hollow. Hoenn was lacking, Sinnoh was disappointing, Unova was good but something felt off. We are doomed to repeat this cycle every generation. Happily playing whatever unfinished video game has the Pokemon logo haphazardly placed on it. But two weeks later we are disappointed. It happened to the Gen Wunners. It happened to the Gen 3 fans, It happened to the Gen 4 fans. And it will happen to every generation of fans until Pokemon ceases to be. We can no longer obtain that sweet spot of Pokemania because we have all grown too old for our imaginations to enhance the first game that we ever played. Thus is the process of aging. We are not young anymore, and Pokemon will never be like it once was, in our eyes.

In short, you're all too old to be picking apart a children's video game. Thank you very much.

Yeah, it's only a matter of time now until Gamefreak completely reverses their business model/design philosophy that has been selling well for no good reason whatsoever and starts putting effort into making good Pokemon games again. Mario Kart 8D is more graphically intense/physics heavy than Pokemon, so we all know in theory Switch can do 1080p at 60 frames per second.

I'm just worried they'll get lazy and go 720/60(docked)/540/60 handheld or 1080/30(docked)/720/30(handheld)

They let you play Pokemon docked on adapters for SNES, N64, and Gamecube.

I've excepted that the Switch is Nintendo's future but.

1) It does feel comfortable in handheld mode

2) the 3ds had a shit launch but it wasn't a shit system. It had some great games and older weaker systems are still playable

3) Just because it's more powerful doesn't mean they will take full advantage of the power or have any significant game play improvements.

The only yearly sandbox series is AssCreed and you know how shitty that gets. Do you really want every game to go open world?

The problem with the 3DS games run far deeper than 240p, m8. As long as they keep going for the hand holding railroady "story" centric approach the Switch games will be just as shit. SM wasn't even your own Pokemon adventure. It was a really bad story about Lillie and her psycho mother with Pokemon as an afterthought and the player character as a non-entity.

I was able to get a switch at the store recently and only bought breath of the wild. Wouldn't mind seeing a pokemon game come to it.

I think everyone is imagining this is gonna look like Dragon Quest XI or something when in reality it's going to look like SM running in 480p but upscale to 720p. Remember we still have one of the stingiest, sloppiest, least-ambitious and understaffed developers in the entire industry working on this.

There has never been a port in the entire history of Pokémon mainline games. Pokémon games are perennial sellers AND system sellers, and the 3DS is still being produced. SM is STILL selling to this day. There is literally no reason whatsoever to port it to Switch.

With Pokken and Mario Kart 8, you had games on a low-selling system that is no longer being produced, so you actually had a reason to port them in order to maximize the profits from the games.

When they announced BW people were either really mad they weren't waiting for 3DS which had just been announced or using it as fodder for their WOW BLUNDER OF THE CENTURY NOGAEMS that every console goes through for its first year or so. When BW2 were announced for DS there were fucking articles on professional blogs even whining about them not being on 3DS.

By the time XY were announced most people's mommies had bought them a 3DS and there were some games out for it so no one cared by that point.

Likely by the time we're actually getting close to Gen VIII's release enough people will have gotten a Switch that the complaining won't be as bad. Especially since it'll be around Christmas when kiddies will be asking for a Switch with Pokémon.
