but they kinda do. Color theory is a thing. Black is more associated with male energy because of black being associated with authority, power, seriousness etc. all typical male qualities, especially in the west. white is for innocence for example which is closer to the female trope, the female stereotype. Despite having a japanese game, the yin-yang theory applies less in that regard (game is an international release) or else it would be reversed based on the qualities associated with Yin and Yang.
look at Gen 3:
Brendan is Ruby because Fire, Red and being active are typically more male qualities.
May is Sapphire because Water, Blue and being typically more passive are all about female energies.
