I honestly don't get why this is such a big deal. I don't think HGSS are great games and no one would admit Kanto isn't majorly gimped but it's like.. so?

It's just postgame content. It's an extra thing. It doesn't have to be another full fledged region. It does it's job just fine in my opinion.

I'd much prefer a full second region but I don't think that's a bad thing.

Except the Emerald Frontier has unique rulings to shake up battles you can't replicate with just online multiplayer and overworld aspects as well which have no place in the multiplayer of the series at all

The slow pacing is a double edge sword. I'm able to soak in the scenery and enjoy the well constructed Sinnoh region, but the battles are way too long and drawn out. I find myself sleeping mid play some times because of how slow things can get.

Buddy, Pokemon isn't some sacred cow above critique, sure we may sound harsh when complaining about the negatives. But that doesn't mean we shit on everything relating to Pokemon, and besides, different people will dislike different things so as a whole it appears that /vp/ hates more than it actually does.

There's a difference between pointing out flaws in a game and getting constantly annoyed about someone preferring one game to another. People pointing out positive aspects in a game they prefer also shouldn't be simplified to "but x!", because the same can be applied to pointing out negatives. One person may love HGSS for its side content, like Kanto, the Platinum Frontier, and Pokeathlon, while another might like XY for all its online advancements. Simplifying any positive opinion as "but x!" doesn't help people provide reasons for what they both like and dislike about the games, it only forces a constant stream of negativity.
