Sure, SM had too much dialogue, but at least it had some kind of cute dialogue some times
XY had a bit less dialogue, but it was much more boring and bs (in comparison)
I felt like XY treated me like an idiot much more than SM did. Remember that route with the day care and the mansion?
The trial challenges are not better than any gym, but some of the battle are really fun. Lurantis-Castform and Wishiwashi-Alomomola specially
I hated every single character in XY except for Sycamore, and it was because it was the most memorable professor at the time. SM had quite a lot of fun and memorable characters in both design and personality. Kukui is fucking great, Nanu seems like a character with a lot going on on his head and I would love to see him more. Gladion is an over the top chuuni idiot and I love him. Lillie is Wally done better (kind of) and is a development obvious enough so even a kid can get it. Guzma is great and it seems like a character with a long past. Team Skull is that group of kids that never got beaten and no one takes them seriously. They are easily one of the most enjoyable evil teams so far imo.
Also, played both without EXP Share nor Amie, XY is much easier.
Of course there are a lot of horrible things going on with SM, but XY is easily worse than it
