I'm of the mind that it (and Misdreavus) should have gotten Ghost/Fairy retyping in gen 6- it would have given its line a new niche and new unique type (Misdreavus was the first and only pure Ghost until gen 3), though buffing its stats a little really wouldn't hurt. It has a nice movepool (wishing it had Ice beam though) and is blessed with the Ghost type's usual bag of tricks like Will-o-wisp, taunt, destiny bond, nasty plot etc. but with its lackluster stats and typing there is nothing stand-out about it which is a shame. Fairy typing would have been a fantastic boon to it, giving it another immunity and a fantastic STAB to abuse- plus it getting moon blast would have been sweeeet.
Alas.
I came to terms with Mr.Mime as kind of whimsical-elf creature justifying it as Fairy, but that it got Fairy over this majestic mon makes me sad :(
