>>33767545So, first off, the artstyle itself is a bit. Shit. It comes off as like early 2005 Hot Topic SO deranged. Like, giving the Aipom those weirdo fucking eyes and jagged teeth. It looks bad. I expect them to be on a mug with like, "When I don't get my morning coffee, people get stabbed" written on it. You've posted another one of your characters before, the biker girl and her Weezing, and I think it works better with her. Here, it's super unnerving.
But, at the same time, the designs themselves are pretty neat. There's personality to them, it makes shit seem more fleshed out.
Shiny Trapinch: bad, basic, Mary Sue tier bullshit.
Giving your Aipom a black collar and a "white" collar: good.
Making your third Aipom a Mimikyu: good, but it doesn't look enough like a sock monkey, and I hope that tail doesn't actually grab shit.
Crystal Variant Golem: good. I love shit like this. I really do. I love aesthetic variants that aren't just "look at this rare palette swap I decided I have." Shit that demonstrates ecological divergence-- not regional differences, not cross-breed imaginings that combine the appearance of both parents, not type changes, not mechanic adjustments-- just examples of subspecies dependent on their environment. I fucking adore those, because they're a fun and interesting way to make a Pokemon distinct without relying on shinies. Do that with Trapinch. Make it a variant.
As far as the little girl herself is concerned, Grinder is kind of a shitty name, even if it's just a nickname given because she uses an actual grinder to grind down Golem's geodes. Speaking of the grinder, looks a little dumb to be hooked to a backpack. Digging the Trapinch boots and overalls, though.
What is the kid's profession, that she needs a woodchipper and heavy lifter. What does she do with that tool, regularly, aside from keep her Golem smooth? Who gave that kid heavy machinery?
