SM felt unfinished and yet USUM for some ungodly reason still does, they didn't fix even the most basic shit that was wrong with SM and it's just the same game with irrelevant shit added on top of it like photo club and the surf minigame.

Stopped reading there. DLC wasn't usable when Platinum was released. Even then, the BF Platinum has is better replayable content than anything this game offers. Oh, and it's not a fucking tedious trainwreck to replay because it's not filled with boring samey cutscenes.

BW2 should have set a new standard for follow up versions. I don't know why we have to go all the way back to fucking Platinum nearly 10 years ago to justify this garbage.

I never really used postfame facilities that much because I generally play the games for the main story, a bit of Postgame, and then I move on to other games. The extra fun features and expanded story are just what I want out of an upper version of SM. I think the problem is people forgot that the base game is still SM. If they hated the original game, of course the things they hated will still be there. It's SM with more, it's not like they'd just remove the cutscenes and characters. That's why I don't really care that people hate it, I already knew people would because people already hated SM. But I actually had a great time playing SM.

Such as? So far from what I'm hearing USUM changed very little from SM content wise. Battle Tree and Royal remain the same, the Battle Agency is a gimped version of the Battle Factory that's also tied to the flawed Festival Plaza, as if GF wants to force us to use that shitty feature.
Only thing worth of substance these games seem to have is the RR plot, and that's just a one and done type deal that can never be repeated unless you restart the entire game.

DP was a good game buried beneath technical issues and awful pokedex distribution, Platinum royally fixed those things.

SM had so many more issues than just technical and distribution (and these did exist too), USUM had so much more to do to fix gen 7 but they did even less.

The "it added more than any other third version" point is moot because while it did add a lot, the things it added are very different from previous third versions. You can't measure the quality of the game by "the number of new things added". It didn't add stuff like the BF, which is what some people get upper versions for in the first place. It expanded and improved the story, added new forms and UBs, and a few extra neat features like Photo Club and Surfing. Cool stuff, but not what everybody's looking for. Even if it's a large number of things, for some people it can be a large number of things they don't really want, hence Groudonposters.

The past games didn't introduce so many with the exception of formes... that would cause a lot of compatibility issues with previous games, i.e. SM and just deter people from playing them and end up buying or "obtaining" USUM. I'd pay $40 if the game included the PWT. I'm definitely not paying $40 for a small postgame story episode (like the delta episode) and a couple of new UBs, that's absolutely insane, especially since you need to start the game all over again and sit through EVERY SINGLE CUTSCENE without skipping being possible.

I made it to the part where lilie and you meat acerola but I'm just not able to keep my interest in the game. Initially it began in ORAS with the release of a highly anticipated trailer for them that was really nothing (simply showing the legends emerging from the sea). People took the image of Groudon throwing its arms up and captioned it "Wow, it's fucking nothing."
Years afterwards someone on here began to spam the same meme after every USUM trailer and eventually became invested in an asinine war between them and "Kyogrefags" which are the opposite, but only spawned now.
This ended up with Groudonfags chanting for the game to fail or underdeliver, many expressing wishes that the game would be bad just so they'd "win." On the other side, they would take every tiny bit of info and praise it like the second coming.
In the end this resulted in even more anger and fighting once the game was leaked, because both sides wanted to be "right" in their autistic fanbase wars.

Outside of most SMTs having a far better story than any Pokemon game, the main problem with SM/USUM is how fucking often you get them. I don't mind having long cutscenes as long as there's not a full minute of them every single screen I walk into, with the slowest possible animations.
I admire their efforts to make Pokemon look like a decent, real story driven RPG but they have failed with the 3ds hardware. I can only hope they actually feel natural and not MGS4-level on the next gen.

Its the exact opposite for me, I find the ratio of pokemon I like vs dislike the best in Gen 5. You have good and interesting pokemon like Excadrill,Darmanitan, Chandelure, Jellicent, Ferrothorn, Escavalier, Mienshao, Cofagrigus, Haxorus, Galvantula, Scolipede, Golurk, Gigalith, Audino, Afrobull, Braviary.

These are the ones just off the top of my head. I actually do like Trubbish and to a lesser extent Garbodor as well.

Even then Pokemon games alone never had it this bad before. Gen 5 may have started the trend of including more story focus, gave the player much more time between scripted sequences/cutscenes. Regardless, just because other games do it doesn't make it good design.

Most of it is not even DLC level. It's basically a content patch, think Overwatch post launch or a MMO story patch.

In an age of vidya DLC and post launch content, ultra S&M don't even meet the qualifications to be considered "new games". It's literally a fucking content patch level of content, like Overwatch adding a new character and map. A few new areas around Alola and some story additions. Game Freak has lost their fucking minds, they always milked it but this is off the rails, you can't justify this in 2017 when it could be distributed just as easily as DLC.
