If this doesn't happen, and quite honestly I don't expect it to, I will probably just design my own "Gen 0" dex for use in my /tg/-related activities. I'm sure my players would love to play another Pokemon game.

You've got it backwards. Fossilmons don't magically gain the rock type when they're revived from fossils. It's just that rock type Pokemon are the only ones that can be revived from fossils.
