Use Seaking.

Goldeen sucks such hard ass. But Seaking, especially in SM/USUM, has enough physical options to work with.

Ran one with Waterfall, Poison Jab, Scald, and Megahorn because I caught it as a shiny Goldeen at level five in ORAS to use as a second starter in a mono water team. Ideally, trade out either coverage move for Drill Run on a bred Goldeen.

Ariados. I used it in Sun, literally the second 'mon I caught, and he stayed on the squad all the way to the end of the post game. Leech Life Buff and that +10 base attack did him wonders, and Z-Toxic Thread is pretty fun as well.

It's fucking criminal that Guzma doesn't use one in USM.

It may seem weak, but it evolves into quite a strong pokemon that even has a mega evolution. You won't regret trying it out

I used Gyarados in Emerald, Platinum, AND SS in my formative years. I don't want to ever use it again, it's boring to use a mon multiple times most of the time (young me not agreeing, of course, because he didn't know any better.)

Pikachu is often overlooked because he was only a starter in yellrow version, a special edition spinoff of red/blue where all the starters have been taken. Being a mouse, he may seem weak, but he has an item specifically made for him, and a decent movepool with some rare event moves. All in all a solid choice

also, if you ever watch the anime, he appears very frequently

magnezone literally solos the entire game, even against hapu

flash cannon, tri attack, and discharge as level up moves are unstoppable. even thundershock is reliable for a long time

I played sun first playthrough with a magneton and this is 100% true. I only picked up the magnemite at the beginning because I figured I'd drop it later when I got something more interesting. Damn thing just kept winning and it became a matter of wondering just how long this would continue.

Turns out forever. It took down 4/6 of lusamine's team without heals and no exp share underleveled.

I always passed up Koffing until a playthrough of Blue last year where I decided to use one to see how it was and I was pretty impressed giving the versatility of it outside of it being a poison type, it can also fuck over elemental types if you give it moves solely to counter specific ones.

I'm having this same experience right now. I kept Magnemite along from the beginning for Thunder Wave support for catching wild Pokémon, but my god it's still with me. Its level kept up with the rest of the team mostly from wild encounters, but now it's proving to be one of the most reliable members of the team. I wasn't planning on keeping it in the long run, but I don't want to turn my back on my bro after this long now.

use magneton with the eviolite until that cave where you can evolve it or even just keep him as eviolite magnetone, dude is really versatile and a total bro.
