Where there even any examples at all of this before ultra beasts became a thing? Only one I can think that barely fits is claydol since it only has a bunch of eyes and no real face.

Imo A-Golem's "beard" looks good but the stubby arms ruin it, plus the magnet/crocodile clip protrusion thing on it looks misplaced and forced. Compared to Graveler where it has subtle crocodile clip hands

Buzzwole has red compound eyes. Not the two black balls. I try really hard to see them as compound eyes, but they lack the detail and it's really hard for me not to see the black balls as eyes.
