There are no brakes on the space and time train, blame Arceus and pals for jumping the shark way too fast.

Gen 5 did some decent backtrack, but now that we have absorfusion and Necrozma the original dragon is going to be fucking beautiful, heck even if they give Arceus the most busted shit ever it will be one upped by the original dragon eventually and the return of the dreamscape or wathever they want to pull off in the future.

not generally, it's the choice of a franchise to go down that way. all pokemon generations have been known to be standalone stories with different mc's so there's no reason for someone from a different generation to show up and require you to know what happened within that generation for what happens in this one to make sense.

Her past is completely irrelevant in the same way Jasmine's is for DP unless you're going to tell us that that battle frontier ties directly into the plot.
As for RR, everything you need to know is in game as it is there's no need to go back into the other games.

Hell, if anything Jasmine needs more of an explanation being in Sinnoh if the events of those games occur alongside the Johto games.

Pokemon has never been standalone anon.
GSC is a direct continuation of RBY.
Several elements of all gen 3 games connect to previous ones one that comes to mind in particular is the post game for FRLG.
Gen 4 is when they started bringing up characters from past games, especially in HGSS.
Gen 5, PWT. Nuff said. Sabrina also makes an appearance in Pokestar.
Gen 6 is filled with connections as is 7.

Pokemon has never been a standalone series everything is connected unlike series like SMT and Final Fantasy.

You don't know fuck all about those series.

I couldn't care less what is "canon" and what not and this might be fun for a game or two but I don't like that they are pretty much forced to keep all this stuff forever because there will just be no logical way to keep the UBs in the games.

Megas are fine, Z-moves are ok etc and they kinda have to come up with new gimmicks every gen but i would like to see a more basic game without all this stuff again in the future, without alien pokemon, wormholes and villains that want to rule the world.

Gen V has tons of transformations though, and so did Gen IV. Z-Moves and Megas are a new mechanic, but they were hardly game-changing. Regional variants are the easiest thing to comprehend ever, and things like Ash-Greninja or specific Legendaries are just new abilities which were eclectic since their debut. Every game in the future's not going to be all about wormholes anymore than every game was about fusion and the dilemma of whether battling Pokemon is really okay after Gen V, or gods and myths are Gen IV, or ancient history after Gen VI.

I liked it in SM because I imagined there were other dimensions with their own complex ecosystems of Pokemon with their own roles and niches and we were just seeing a glimpse of that (even if all the UBs weren't from the same place).
But showing they are all from fucked up worlds where one species live there as the only residents kinda fucked that up and trivialized the whole thing. Instead of getting the impression that there could be countless complex worlds that rival our own, we go back to the feeling that the main world in Pokemon is the only one worth a damn.

But I strongly dislike the parallel universe route the games are getting more and more into. It's just a cheap way to ignore continuity and do whatever the fuck you want with old characters and settings.

Rainbow Rocket should've been its own spin-off in the style of the Colosseum games so that it could actually be fleshed out properly. As it is in USM it's utter shit because they decided this concept would be best used for a two hour long post-game story.

How did she know that? For all that could have happened, the meteor could have completely missed the alternate Hoenn. They could have probably had something to protect them from meteors, it could have even been transported to a vacant universe. She risked her entire world twice, on a hypothetical and assumptions.
