>>34605179I know enough to keep up, at least when it comes to the pokemon themselves, additional features in the newer games, and whatnot. I usually get into pokemon in waves, at least since I turned 16 or so. It used to be the game series which I invested the most time in before that. Right now, I've been on a couple month long streak after buying Platinum (again, sold it a few years ago) and Heartgold (first time, loving it a lot, going to make it my master file).
I like collecting, training, and doing Battle Frontier stuff so my copies of Emerald, Firered, and Crystal kept me occupied for years. Now I'm going hard on HGSS and I have IRL friends who play gen 4 so I'm pretty much content with what I got, especially since I have a DS lite and can get Kanto and Hoenn pokemon really easily from the Pal Park.
Thankfully, there's still discussion involving older games and pokemon from generations I like where I can still be entertained by discussion here. I've also been lurking to see if any gen 8 info will be leaked yet as well, to see if the designs will get any better. There's still quite a lot to do even with 8+ year old games being the ones I play.
