>To continue commemorating one hundred years of Japanese anime history, NHK has released a ranking for people's favorite anime characters as a part of Anime 100 celebration on Sunday at NHK BS Premium. The ranking was based from votes conducted from October 20 to November 19 last year.

This isn't a "favorite character" survey...it's a "which character's voice actor do you want back the most" survey.

A survey of which characters people want back the most was done several months ago, and the winner was Brock, followed by Serena.

Her seiyuu is new, that's why. Aoi Yuki is a star in japan just like Mamoru Miyano (Cilan's seiyu). BW's cast was top billed.

With that being said I love that a great and underrated character like Iris is still liked in the land where it all matters.

Iris herself isn't very widely liked. The relative dearth of fanart on sites like Pixiv and Twitter should be just one of several telltale indicators. Seiyuu popularity isn't strongly connected to character popularity the way some here might want to believe.

Its not that I hate Iris, in fact I was an Iris fan and find her attractive.
However she became a wasted potential thanks to the bad writing of BW series. I just hope future pokemon series will introduce a new Iris with new personality like S/M Ash who doesn't call him kid and actually likable.
