Abolish levels. Pokemon are as strong as their stats are and only grow through EVs, up to a point (probably +/- 10 to 20). You can specialize pokemon into any stat(s) with EVs instead.

Battle Role Gimmick

New "stat/value" that you can train to make your Pokémon more defensive or more offensive beyond IVs and EVs.

During training, the Pokémon can obtain different moves than usual that cannot have the opossite version of that Pokémon (example: defensive Probopass could learn Recover and offensive Probopass could learn Aura Sphere) or change its hidden ability. Of course, defensive Pokémon cannot have learned a move of its offensive version and vice versa, so they forget the moves if they are trained tho get the other role.

Besides this, it also affects the weaknesses and STAB:
> Defensive Pokémon reduce damage from supereffective moves by 1/3, but they loses 1/2 of STAB.
> Offensive Pokémon increase damage from supereffective moves by 1/2, but they win 1/3 of STAB.
(values are examples, they could be changed)

They also change its standing animation on battle according to the role.

Fuck, that's tough. I'm not a fan of the gimmicks.

Any pokémon can be ridden. Not just Charizard and Tauros and Lapras and the other shillmons. Everything from Remoraid to Swellow to Amoongus.

Now, riding most pokémon is gonna be kinda useless. Tiny 'mons like Wurmple can't move under your weight, and you'll fall through Gastly when you try to sit on it. Magikarp just splashes around, and Oddish can only move at night.

But others get you better results. Rapidash is the fastest mount, of course. Manectric lets you dash through obstacles, over gaps, etc. Snorlax is slow, but can eat things in its way. Machamp can throw you across gaps or up cliffs and ledges. Spidery 'mons can carry you up walls.

The legendary is a horse that you can ride through walls or into space or something. Think like riding Mega-Fug in ORAS, but with a unicorn.

Hybrid moves. If your Pokemon has the right combination of moves, it gets access to a 5th, more powerful move. For instance, a sleep move that requires Aromatherapy + Sweet Scent or a punching move that needs the 3 elemental punches.

Voice recognition.
You're able to use the built-in mic to call out actions you wanna make with your Pokemon, moves, items, mega evolution, Z-Moves, etc.
When you have 4+ affection you're also able to call out for a mon to dodge, wake up, cure it's status condition or get a crit, and increase the chance Amie gives you at performing those actions.

Also, if your Pokemon has met the correct conditions for evolution during battle,
if you call out some shit like "[Insert Pokemon here], I believe in you!" it'll evolve mid-fight.

Genealogy and better breeding. Ways to store Pokemon on a facility/ranch instead of a PC, where your Pokemon level up and grow like the daycare but you're in charge instead of the daycare folks, like a personal Poke-ranch.

Also more interactive environments, I'm sick of walking around in rigid box areas with nothing to do but progress. Allow Pokemon able to do things outside of the Pokeball and whatnot.

they wouldn't say that, Megas are just temporary forms like Meloetta etc. only taken to the extreme and Z-moves are basically the type Gems taken to the extreme

Super Switch - If a Pokemon is holding a certain kind of item, it gets a button like Z Moves or Mega Evolution. The Super Switch lets you pick a move, and the Pokemon gets to switch and attack in the same turn, the move having 200% effectiveness (e.g. Ice Beam is 180 BP and has a 20% chance to freeze. Hypnosis' accuracy goes up to 100%. Stuff like that)

It's not a gimmick I think would be all that great and it may even break competitive some, but it's one I see potentially happening because Nintendo "Switch"

Pokemon fusion. It allows you to sacrifice one of your team pokemon in order to boost another pokemon. The second pokemon would get the original pokemon's abilities and types stacked up to its own. If the pokemon you sacrificed is a regional variant of the second pokemon (or viceversa) then the second pokemon will get a temporary new look as well as different stats and the stacked up types and abilities.

Once per battle, press a button on the touch screen to activate this effect for your current Pokemon. It turns fully golden and gains a golden aura. It gains a +1 bonus to all stats(Contrary doesn't affect this, Simple does), takes 2/3rds of the damage it usually takes, and deals 1.1x the usual damage. Its stat-boosting moves are one stage more effective and any stat-lowering moves it uses on enemies are 2 times more effective.

Z-Moves were supposed to give every trainer the ability to make his or her favorite Pokemon feel extra-special and super-useful, so every kid can cheer and feel like an anime protagonist when his lv40 Oddish OHKOs a lv35 Arcanine with Bloom Doom. They also fucked with the meta and added a chance that certain checks might just not work at all. Let's take this a step further.

I don't like the idea of not being able to catch every Pokemon, desu. I don't know if you meant the boss in specific, but I think at least its species should be catchable outside of the boss fight. Imagine a dressed Meowth who is a badass gang leader in an alley or something. And only just fighting him won't be enough, because there are many Pokemon from the gang throwing stuff at you, like 14 of them, but they have a tiny health bar. If you fight one by one you'll probably lose. You'll need one of those splash abilities that hit every enemy at the same time
That's a bad example but I'd like boss battles like Zelda and Souls have

That was already done with Hey You Pikachu and to some extent Gen IV (voice chat and Chatter), although that technically falls under mic functions.

Also, remember that ANY sort of voice functions for a Switch version will have to be done via a mobile app.

there would also be an option to have pokemon imported from previous games, and having their levels and stats scaled to what amounts to lvl 5 starter mons. as you gain badges, your pokemons stats are slowly returned to normal and after the elite 4 all restrictions are removed

Body part stats. Pokemon with bigger arms have stronger punch moves, bigger legs stronger kicks, pokemon with powerful tails lower defense two stages with tail whip, etc.

Additionally, pokemons' defense is distributed over their body. Aim for a Blastoise's shell and you do almost nothing. Aim for its exposed head or limbs and you'll do a lot more damage.

The game is set in the past. Man-made items from the older games don't exist, you have to craft your own balls out of Apricorns, use berries to heal/cure status problems and TMs are exclusively replaced by move tutors.
