That whole gen is like a blur to me and I sometimes question if it happened at all.

>anime goes full reboot with retardoru ash

>sequel is not one game but two, with not a name change but just '2' added on because they are actual story sequels
>gameplay had a mix of the OG tile sets and minor instances of 3d
>included minor co-op elements
>manga didn't really have dexholders

Years from now people will look at gen 5 and wonder what was going on at nintendo, and why they tried to break their formula with a reboot.

It's an unorthodox theme, one you could even have a hard time believeing it's from pokemon. Village Bridge is unique because it's pretty much the only theme in the games with lyrics.

God, I miss Gen 5. Especially pre-release hype.
>Learning all the Pokemon names in Japanese (truly the last time we've done so)

>Introduced the most Pokemon in the series
>Arguably had the best character designs/arcs
>Had so many memorable themes (Village bridge, N's, Colress', Iris', etc)

Makes me so depressed we will never have Pokemon games with so much care/love/content put into them ever again

Gen 5 is, unironically and without baiting, one of, if not THE strongest gens in the entire series, with a majority of its hate being based solely on the fact that the average genwunner was an edgy teenager when it came out and so

Why is a town that revolves entirely around a bridge not making more use of that river?

I wanted them to have a river focus and for it to be a big part of the townsfolks daily lives. As it stands it's just any other town but on a bridge. Hollow visual gimmick.

If the Gen 8 China/south east Asia rumours turn out to be true I hope we get a river market with floating waterways etc.

All the problems of the 6th gen onwards started from 5th:
>handholding
>railroading in plot
>linearity
However 5th gen didn't skimp on gameplay (actually optimised it for the most part), felt like finished games, and had a sequel that both improved the gameplay AND had a new campaign.

the thing is though, this is the full theme, which doesn't play unless you talk to every "instrument"-NPC in the village.
