There is no real way to know for sure, but I find it likely to be the intention. Anyway this specific name etymology isn't what I'm bothered about. More pertinently, it's this counter-productive, overly autistic attitude they have that is a cause of concern.
Bulbapedia is supposed to be this hub of knowledge about Pokémon, and it's probably the best source of information we have for the franchise in general. But, because they place more value in being "tidy" than in being actually helpful, someone who is browsing their website trying to learn as much as they can could leave it missing some potential crucial information.
