Is it possible to catch the Legendaries and then battle Necrozma after like pic related implies?

Like during your first trip trough the Ultra Wormhole instead of going straight for the white one, hit up some of the colored rare ones and bring Fug along for the battle?

I dont use legends in game, but gathering an army of gods before taking on an ultra powerful light demon adds a nice little punch to the story.
