Steelix has a new ability that causes all incoming special attacks to be calculated with Steelix's Defense stat. Is it OU now?

I don't know about OU, but it'd definitely get better. Its HP stat isn't complete trash, and Sheer Force can let it have a slight bit of offensive presence so it's not completely passive.
That being said, it doesn't have much in the way of support moves, and it lacks some god damn recovery. Without that, it sadly won't be that great at all. That being said, it would be a serious fucking threat in the lower tiers.

Woo, I hadn't said anything retarded today yet, it had to happen at some point.
I guess Steelix does still have strong STABs in the form of Iron Tail and Earthquake and a not-complete-garbage 85 base Atk, at least for a defensive pokemon.

85 is decent enough to put in work. If I recall, in VGC, mixed swampert pulled it off with an expert belt to some success around 2016.

Except steelix has nothing that makes sheer force worthwhile, and if you had been paying attention, it doesn't have it because it's using an ability that makes its SpD equal to its def

Did some calculations, even with this ability a solid Sp. Attacker dealing SE damage can 2 shot it. Probably OU.
And then I considered how op Curse would be with this ability. He might actually be Uber tier if it can set up.
