>>35296345Pros: uses its own mechanics to "feel" like Pokemon (where ptu/a autisticly crib video game mechanics but fails to resemble Pokemon")
offloads progression onto trainers and not their Pokemon, this cuts down on a lot of bookkeeping but also makes it a lot easier for the DM to balance. PCs wind up like gym leaders/ the stat trainers from sinnoh rather than a roving pack of reds.
and finally its simple. players dont have to know the nitty gritty mechanics to play, which is ideal for these kinds of games.
Cons: none in relation to ptu/a as those systems have 0 redeeming features or qualitys.
my biggest problem with the game is its reliance on players looking shit up on bulbapedo (base stat totals mainly)
a lot of Pokemon straight up dont improve when they evolve but the system still uses BST for certain values for things like catching (i really dislike how catching works) making some Pokemon huge pains in the ass to get for no added benefit.
