It may not look like it now, or even when the games are actually revealed, but there are things to be excited about:

> Overall game is a remake of Yellow, but also after the adventure of Red, where most changes are story context based
> The games are still a part of Gen 7, as the actual Japanese logos still resemble the Alola games and are also compatible with said games
> Two new mons which include a Dragon-type Eeveelution, and a new Pikachu Evolution. Both are the only options you can evolve your starter into and both are connected to Zeraora
> Kanto Dex expanded to 250, mainly includes popular other gen mons, mons to add more Ice, Ghost, Fairy, and Dragon types, and evolutions and pre-evolutions to Kanto mons
> Three new UBs: UB Red, UB Blue and UB Void
> Eighteen Kantonian Forms of Alola Pokemon which include: Bruxish, Wimpod-line, Morelull-line, and Sandygast-line
> Festival Plaza returns hosted by Celio
> Pokemon GO compatibility allows transfer between games
> While the map layout is hardly changed and most of the game is at a top down view, the camera has free movement
> Most towns have been redesigned with unique themes such as Pewter City becoming an archaeological digsite, Cerulean City becoming a resort town, and Fuchsia City having an oriental theme.
> Team Rainbow Rocket are the main antagonists, and their goal involves the new UBs, although most of their actions mirror the originals
> Lillie returns and becomes your second rival and the Champion
> Story elements suggest that the story of Red and Blue occurred without Team Rocket within this universe, although a prophesy states that it may happened in another universe
> A special episode involving Mr.Fuji and Mewtwo occurs during the post-game
> You are able to travel back to Alola once you finished this episode, with the overworld and trials straight from Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
