Salamence/Dragonite are the quintessential European dragon, and the rest of the dragons are more creative. Sunflora is the only
Grass type that's a literal cartoon flower with leaf hands and root feet.

They basically have to get concepts like these out of the way at some point. They're too obvious and tempting.

Their models looked bad all the way back in Stadium. I think these ones are probably most telling of Gamefreak's design process for Gen I, designing something that would be very visually impressive in a singular pose on a gameboy screen, but not so much when translated to 3D.

I know gen1 liked to do certain things like making all rock pokemon also ground pokemon but why did it also have to be this guy? He was literally meant to be a single type. He's just a rock with arms. The whole Geodude family should have only been rock type. They needed this anyways and they fucked it up.

How did they get away with this thing? It's just a circle with cartoon eyes. Its feet are blobs. Why is it wearing undefined gloves?
