Gamefreak are gonna continue making games like XY if they sold so fucking well, regardless of the fan reception.
Sorry mang, but Gamefreak are in the comfy, COMFY position where they literally don't have to pay attention to any feedback other than the sales.
They have literally no competition. Yokai Watch came close, but not close enough and it fizzled out pretty quickly. (Not to say its dead, but its definitely not at threat level anymore, thats for sure)
The only way Gamefreak are gonna get their asses kicked into gear is if either a modern main series game doesn't sell well, or if a rival somehow outsells them.
And lets be real, we know neither of those things are going to happen.
