Why did people get mad that Black and White only had new mons before the elite 4?
Are there actually people out there who DON'T use exclusively new mons in a new gen game?

Yes, namely because a lot of the 'new' Pokemon are rehashes or, of course, look like shit. I go full new in new games, but having older Pokemon is great because sometimes I didn't get a chance to play with those older Pokemon in the past, but in this game it shows up in an earlier route, e.g. Houndour in XY.

Like, I wouldn't give a shit if they brought Swalot into an otherwise exclusively new mon game, but something obscure that's cool that I hadn't used before, like Beldum (Sun/Moon) is excellent.

It's unrealistic, countries in reality actually have crossover with the species that live there.
Especially a small portion of a country with generic species like the US.

Honestly, I wish they kept that staple for Kalos and Alola. I had to actively avoid/box mons in X just to get an X team that was 4/6 Kalosian, 1/6 Unovan, and 1/6 Kantonian.

I'm trying to do the same now with Alola and vanilla Moon version. So far, I just beat Lana's trial and have a Dartrix, Trumbeak, and Morelull. Suggestions?

The only new Gen games I’ve done exclusively new Pokémon are 5 (forced) and 7. Though I was close with 6 - I used like 10 Pokémon and only 2-3 weren’t brand new.

I didn't get larvesta till stupid late in the game and had to grind forever just to barely get it close to everyone else, and had someone trade me a rufflet egg over because getting one so late sucked

Those two are nothing like alakazam outside of psychic typing and high special attack. Starmie has more in common with alakazam than those two.
For that matter, Gothitelle has more in common with grardevoir than she does with jynx.

Zoroark is more like lucario than it is eevee. Eevee was always popular but it wasn't until recently that it was pushed as heavy due to man to pandering. Zoroark also plays entirely different roles in game compared to eevee.

Swana likewise is nothing like fearow outside of being a Bird. I will give you golduck, though. I actually forgot that thing existed.
