Just wanted to ask what's people's opinion about Slots vs. Voltorb flip.
I'm currently working on putting voltorb flip into crystal and was curious to see if most people even like Voltorb Flip

Well I don't really play either for the coins since they really do take too long to farm coins. Your best bet for that would be defeating the Elite 4 a couple of times and buy them I guess.
I mostly prefer Voltorb Flip because compared to slots it's actually a nice time waster.

Anyways, I'm going to leave slots and the og card flip in the game so voltorb flip will simply be an addition

In Voltorb Flip, you just have to be good at the game and hope you don't run into too many 50-50 setups. For slots, the odds vary based on the machine.

Dunno how it works in the japanese hg and ss but in crystal there's some machines that are occupied by people most of the time that always have the activated luck modifier.
Another cool thing though is that the normal machines also have a small chance of booting with the luck modifier activated.

Voltorb flip is the shit once you figure out that there's nothing in any line adding up to 5 between the number and the number of voltorbs. However, make it a little more lucrative than it was in HGSS. Even doing decently meant a bit of a slog as far as grinding goes. Maybe make the pokemon change as you level up based on who learns explosion?

if the row's total adds up to 5 it means there are 4 1s and a voltorb or something similar, stay the fuck away
if there are 4 voltorbs it means theres nothing good in that row, etc it's just simple math, if you do some process of elimination you can find some "freebies" and then eventually narrow down the others. rows with 0 are freebies obviously

like the other dude said it's random at high lvls

It's more complicated than that.

The secret to making money on the gen 1 slots is
>exit and save outside
>enter and pick a slot machine
>play until you lose 50 coins from when you enter
>hope you get lucky and enter lucky mode where you will auto win for like 50-60 pulls
>after you lose like 5 in a row after the "good luck" streak exit, save, and repeat
also
>if you get barx3 exit, save, and repeat. getting this puts you in "bad luck" mode until you change slots
>if you get a 777, roll a few more times, if you don't win anything exit, save, and repeat. getting 777 has a 50/50 of putting you into "bad luck" mode
It is impossible to actually line up icons, so mash as fast as possible

Slots was irritating to play for coins, roulette was better but no fun, voltorb flip was fun when I was in the mood for it so maybe three times ever, and I can see how it would clash with some tastes and they'd never want to play it. I'd rather boot up minesweeper on my PC most of the time. The key was letting rich players buy their way out of playing; people who use dragons don't have time to grind on voltorbs all day, and the game chauffeur was an absolute creep.

All I can say is that slots is slow as fuck for getting coins in crystal. After starting a new playthrough of crystal recently it frustrated me enough to start making it.
If anything I could also adjust the payout per level though for that i'd first have to get it into a playable state.
Right now I've finished all the code for setting up the graphics and initialize a new game (Placing and counting all the cards and voltorbs).
