I like how they made 1 of the pink blobs of gen 1 Fairy (Clefable), another 1 Fairy/Normal (Wigglytuff) and kept 1 full Normal (Chansey).

If anything, only the Chansey line are just cute pink blobs. At least CleFAIRY is obsessed with the moon and Jigglypuff become rabbit-like when in contact with a Moon stone. Even Audino, the Chansey replacement is a rabbit-like creature that becomes a Fairy by the use of mega evolution.

Gamefreak knew what they were doing when they left the Chansey line untouched.

I mean yeah, I get that point too. But fairy isn't really an element it's more like a theme. Idk how the literal happiness Pokemon that is totally based on healing and nursing isn't fairy. Especially when Blissey has angelic features - more than wigglytuff even.

Besides regular things, Normal also includes

>lazy fucks (Snorlax, Slakoth, Regigigas, Komala)
The Blissey line, Dunsparce, and Drampa are the only Normals I can think of that don't fit into any of those.

Drampa has fur despite being a dragon. Fur is a mammal thing so it's Normal even though it's not a mammal.

Dunsparce I dunno. Isn't it based on a yokai? Maybe it's just a regular-ass animal that happens to resemble a yokai, so it's Normal typing is a reference to the fact it's not actually special at all.

That would mean Pokemon can be fairy only if is related to the moon. What are the other traits of this type? Healing, caring and protection comes to my mind but would suggest Chansey.

The most mystical things Chanesy learns naturally are minimize and heal pulse. The rest of it's move set consist of your bread and butter normal type moves with a few oddities like light screen.
