My last playthrough of HGSS was pretty much me just using this adorable little guy against every fight. It's usually the most reliable member of any team I use.

I used him in Pearl and it carried the second half of the game alone. I'm satisfied as fuck it made into Pokkén too.

I'm not. I just thought a pokemon whose ability was "become worthless at 50% HP" would be unusable in game. Instead it was the exact opposite. There's a lot of really solid picks in Black 1, especially around the time you get to Castelia/Nimbasa

If spin-offs count, Absol more or less saved me after the disaster that was Mt. Blaze because i had Chikorita as a partner while i was a fucking Eevee. Ice type coverage makes Groudon and Rayquaza a tad easier.

Archeops is still good in gen 7, used one in Ultra Moon and it tore a lot of stuff up, though for bulkier mons I was mostly reliant on Incineroar and Jellicent as they could take hits.

Most of the others I've known have already been mentioned, but Excadrill is a key one that can't be missed as it's disgustingly good. You also can't go wrong with almost everything in Unova's desert areas. Even Crustle, which has good dual STABs, guaranteed good ability (either Sturdy or Shell Armor), and Shell Smash lategame.

I picked her up on a whim because I needed a grass type. She ended up being the first Pokemon I ever leveled up to 100, plus she learns false swipe so I use her to shinyhunt now
