I hate how Ultra Beasts are just glorified legendaries with weirder min-maxed base stats and wackier designs. I liked them better back when SM info was new and people thought the UB's were hiding as NPCs in the game and served as bosses.

Its movepool is pretty bad. It doesn't learn the 120BP special moves. It only has Swords Dance to boost, but doesn't learn Earthquake or Stone Edge. Its only recovery is Rest, and it has no form of priority. The only benefit to Silvally is its Parting Shot spam, but even A-Persian does this better because it's fast and has Taunt.

It isn't completely useless. Parting Shot is ridiculous and with RKS System, you can make a better pivot than Alolan Persian since Silvally can switch into attacks. Flying, Ground, and Steel are especially notable.

Multi-Attack is also better than Judgment because it's physical and can be boosted by Swords Dance. That said, lack of priority really kills it.

A shittier Arceus doesn't automatically mean hot garbage. I mean, to use a Judeo-Christian metaphor, Metatron is basically a shittier YHWH but he's still absurdly powerful. Arceus has been a central part of the Ubers metagame since its incarnation, most people were expecting Silvally to be metagame-defining in OU or at least UU due to its assumed versatility.

Steel has been a top tier defensive type since its inception. It is so good, Fire, Ground, and Fighting are amazing offensively simply because they are effective on Steel.
Even with its defensive Nerf of losing its resistance to Ghost and Dark, it still has 11 resistances and 1 immunity to poison, that also makes it immune to toxic.
Just think about that for a second. Poison types still take damage from their own poison attacks, but Steel types don't.

Archeops is intentionally a bad Pokemon. I think it has around 125/120/115 base offenses and speed on top of having Flying and Rock coverage. That's pretty ridiculous. If it ever gets a HA, it's going to see an incredible amount of usage. Knowing GF it'll probably end up with Truant.

It's BST (567) and bulk (or lack thereof) are nowhere close to high enough to justify its horrid ability and level 37 is considerably late to evolve for a two-stage Pokemon. It should either get a decent HA or have 50+ more added to its stats. It's dumb to make a Pokemon that is designed to curbstomp the main game but is shit for real battles.

I'm actually disappointed they didn't keep doing this after gen IV. Most sexual dimorphism in nature is pretty subtle, not usually being a dramatic difference in color or something. That kind of difference is cool too, but it's just not the same.

On a related note, GF's tendency to introduce something big then all but drop it the next generation. Gender differences from gen IV, triple battles from gen V (minimized in gen VI, gone entirely in gen VII), mega evolution (no new megas in gen VII, with mega stones becoming much harder to acquire), and you just know the same thing will happen with z-moves going into gen VIII.

In hindsight the failure to adress Johto mon distribution and wild/trainer levels in Heartgold and SoulSilver will probably always hurt.
