Yeah I always considered the lighthouse to be more of her Gym. And Elesa still has her old Gym too. I can’t remember if it’s optional or not but it seems like the realized her new Gym was a little to simple but was a cool idea they wanted to keep.

OP's term was linear hallway, so i listed linear hallways. clair's gym was a linear hallway slightly bent on itself but in the remake it's extra linear, and morty's gym was a linear hallway where you take teeny tiny detours to avoid holes

Probably the only theme I didn't like was Cheren's gym and that's simply because it's a copy paste from BW's gym theme. I wonder if GF considered adding a touch of Cheren's theme to it before settling on the BW theme (maybe as an additional callback on the angle that he was a prominent BW character). My favorite is too hard to decide between Roxie's and Marlon's.

I think by linear hallways, they meant literally just a hallway you walk up through with no challenge or obstacle in your way. Not even an attempt at a puzzle or gimmick.

Never said I didn't like the aesthetic of the trainer school being the gym (I actually love the fact BW2's starting area is a city with a gym), just that the theme could have been better and represented Cheren more.

That's why you don't have to fight the other trainers in her gym, you already fought them while climbing the Lighthouse.

Compared to all the other great gyms we got in B2/W2, one gym being linear isn't that big of a deal. The entire point of the gym was the fact that Elesa is a model and you're on a catwalk. Use your brain.
