XY had a trailer where Gardevoir used Fairy Wind (can't learn it in the final release, Ralts learns Disarming Voice early instead).

Also, ORAS had a trailer where Mega Ultra Chicken used Ice Punch. That was a really notable one because everyone got so excited for the coverage option & competitive theorymonning that the devs actually came out and apologised after release, because Blaizken couldn't learn Ice Punch in the final version. So this has actually happened plenty of times before.

Gen 5 was the beginning to a more linear structure but that doesn't mean it's nearly as bad as gen 6/7's linearity. I made a post about it but I can't remember on what thread but the TL;DR is that Gen 5 is in an odd state of haveing optional explorative that don't connect the world and are off the path. Whereas Gen 6/7 have jack shit and are linear experiences with shit dungeons.
I think if someone has a problem with 5/6/7 it's understandable but if someone shits on gen 5 but not 6/7 which only removes gen 5's strengths and amplifies it's weakness I know they shitposting

If youy want to get really tinfoilly about it, the part where Pika tail-slaps its trainer's hand and Brock pulling the crossed-arm pose of all Z-moves initial position also seem to suggest this could be the case.

I have to admit that even though I don't buy those games, there's not THAT much you can do with those games. They're 3D already and except for new maps, gameplay mechanics, and game modes, which the companies already do, you can't really improve on the games. Same goes with Fifa. I do agree that there doesn't need to be a new Fifa, CoD, etc. game every year though

Pokemon is much worse because it has been 20 years and they STILL haven't switched to proper 3D gameplay. It's quite disgusting if you think about it, especially when you consider that Ocarina of Time and every Zelda game afterwards (also from Nintendo) are a thing

because the hardware they did appear on wasn't powerful enough to do that. And frankly, porting a 15 year old game for a much weaker system again, isn't really comparable to me (given how it originally looked, slapping a modern texture on it in the process isn't taxing too much of the system).

There are tons of other brands that recycle every design or do cashgrab remakes.
Hell, in games, some genres like fighting games get away with basically being SF2T or MvC2 every day and sports games get away with being the same game for almost 20 years.
