mary sues are supposed to be flawless wish-fulfillment characters who upstage the protagonists and are skilled at everything. n is a flawed character, a jobber, and he gets upstaged by both the main character and the true villain. he's the opposite of a mary sue.
now, i'm not saying n is all that great of a character or anything. he reminds me of a less interesting version of ikuto from digimon savers. but just because you don't like him doesn't mean he's a mary sue.
