My first playthrough of RT had my teammate get oneshotted by a boss repeatedly because I was massively underleveled and didn't realize you could tell teammates to avoid enemies and then just throw gravelrocks until things died.

I still remember that time in Aegis Cave when all of my teammates stepped on a single pitfall trap (I think that's what it was called), and they all got taken away for the rest of the dungeon. I had no choice but to recruit wild Unown and try to beat the dungeon, including the Regi boss fights, with them. As you might expect, it didn't work, and I ended up having to leave the dungeon. I've never gone back and given it another shot, but I'd like to one day.

even if the reviewer realizes it's trash, they have to say good things about it

on the other hand, pokemon spinoffs are not the source material, so most people just assume they're bad and only made to get some more easy money (funnily enough) without even giving it a chance.

Figs I just got past Dialga in EoS, after the 3rd or so try. Have been playing the game for the entire year during spare time and it has been so far engaging.

Had the issue of relying too much in orbs when none of them work against bosses tho so I wanted to ask are postgame bosses much more difficult?

I've also picked GtI by the side but that's just started. Is it a good game in /vp/'s eyes? I've noticed the selection of starters is retardedly restricted (only one gen plus guest Axew and franchisewhored Pikachu) and that the game starts slow and linear as heck.

I enjoyed it and think it doesn't get enough love, but it's got its flaws like simplified gameplay, lack of starters, and slow text speed making multiple playthroughs annoying.
Also postgame is a single level if I remember correctly.
On the plus side, it has arguably the best soundtrack in the whole series.

That's only true as far as the story goes. I like the postgame mechanics. However, the only other postgame content is expanding Paradise and recruiting everyone, and considering the huge lack of Pokémon, it's not much at all.

Show me your Destiny Tower clear with Eevee or anyone else you're pushing for, and then I'll care.
Story dungeons don't matter at all. You can use Totodile who buffs every time he gets hit or Phanpy who's garbage in comparison and you can still get by.

Charizard has some strong starting moves and smoke screen.
Torterra has life drain and line of sight in form of razor leaf. Earth type makes it nearly unkillable by discharge.
Sceptile has life drain and quick strike.
Skitty has fake out and takes advantage of big PP pool of tackle. Also learns sing relatively quickly.
Lucario has fucking detect, quick strike and maybe dark pulse that hits everythig around you assuming you hit.

Of these the only actually noteworthy ones are Charizard and Skitty. Everything else is serviceable and can get by, but not outright busted. Also Lucario's main sell is Focus Punch boss cheese, not a boring 8 tile attack.

Cyndaquil/Typhlosion is basically Charizard with less big power moves.
If Vulpix gets Faint Attack as player character then sure. If only partner gets it, it has only ember for stab, rest are statuses. I guess roar is useful.
Treecko = Sceptile
Pikachu and Shinx get discharge really late. Sure destiny tower is long and ranges pokemon up to 99, but starting moves are essential so you could survive to that 30ish or so. That's why I didn't list Heat Wave and Earthquake for Charizard and Torterra.

Learn to read nigger. Focus of the post was early levels. Once you build up your equipment and lvls it's not as bad. Quick strike is basically additional free hit if you don't OHKO. Just look how often posts about clearing DT state that they got lucky with early warp/pass scarves. Key word is early. The sturdier you are at start, the more chances you get to get those valuable for the run items.

Yea, I installed it with FBI via hacking my DS through the seedminer method. I bought a new SD card after I did it too since I knew I'd need space for all the new games I'd download. 32 GB, had around 25 when I did it, but for some reason it stayed on the initial loading screen and never moved past that.

The Egg System in Mystery Dungeon was always so shitty if you were trying to get a specific gender or set of egg moves. Outlaw missions where you have to fight them and their gang is a guaranteed 1/2 or 1/1 chance of getting who you want. For example a mission where you arrest Ninetales will give you a shot at Vulpix or Zigzagoon.

I'm actually kind of glad with the approach they used in Super. Instead of the game primarily being about you as usual, it's more so about your partner. If they do decide to continue Mystery Dungeon in the future, I hope they focus more on the world and characters around us instead of the MC. Awhile back I imagined a story for PMD and it went something like this.
>Both you and your partner had came from the human world
>Upon transporting into the Pokemon world your partner was snatched away by a conquering group and corrupted since you both lost your memories

Super honestly had a shit level curve and balance in general. On top of Looplet boosts, you get Megas that are honestly more of a hazard than a blessing, and then Wands which you can pretty much abuse to the maximum. The post game dungeons are really where things come into play though in terms of difficulty as you'll see with Arceus dungeon.

I played through Explorers, more accurately Sky for the first time recently and I found the twist pretty shocking, even for a Pokemon game. I played through Red Team, Explorers of Darkness and, Explorers of Sky. Sky's my favorite game out of all the Pokemon, even liked more than mainline titles.

How good is Super? I just realized I bought a copy a long time ago but never played it.

It's different from the first two, so don't expect the same experience. It has a lot of content, but less than Sky. Gameplay is a bit harder and involves using items a lot more. Story is about as long as the main story of Sky (not counting Sky's postgame and special episodes), most people either like the first part or the second part of the story, it's a bit rare to find someone who enjoyed both.
