Slaves were purchased from black slave owners in africa.
All races enslaved people. Whites were the ones to end slavery. Only like 3% of americans owned slaves when slavery was at it's PEAK.
Many other countries participated in the african slave trade including arab countries who simply KILLED their slaves after and treated them horribly.
In america there were strict laws on how you could treat your slaves so they weren't brutalized as much as you'd think.
Slavery actually dramatically increased living standards for black people. Slavery was basically like a shitty version of trade school and many blacks learned things on the job, there were black slave accountants, blacksmiths, carpenters, farmers etc etc. They basically OWE white people for slavery as they would be much poorer without it.
White people were the ones to END slavery.
