Who said Lyra replaces her? Kris is from Crystal. Gold and Silver didn’t have a female protag so they had to make a new one for HGSS.

Yes and she was the selectable female player character for that gen. Why couldn't they use the first female character players could've chosen?

I agree that Dawn killed Kris, but for a different reason:
Dawn is the most popular Pokegirl in Japan, probably because she's so cute + she has Piplup in the anime, going back to an old fashioned girl like Kris would be jarring, so they made another cute girl for the remake, Lyra.

I don't care about which one is used. I just hope it's more like Crystal where she's not included in the story. The character that's not chosen inserted into the story as your bestest buddy in the whole world is one of the few things I dislike about HGSS. Hopefully Let's Go Johto will follow Crystal in that regard.
