Because unless you're playing it on an N64 with Dodrio Tower, it's a slow fucking game.

FRLG exists, sure, but with abilities and the newer EV system.

LGPE is closer to the old system where the battles were more drawn out and you didn't just 1HKO everything with your strongest move. It's refreshing.

I've played both and that's wrong. Neither games are hard but particularly USUM has more challenge than LGPE because of totem battles and the fact that boss trainers actually have optimized IVs and EVs which makes them much harder.

That said, 'it's too easy' is not why LGPE is bad. They're not easier than, say, FRLG or RBY. They're bad games because of the 3DS-tier graphics, the lack of being able to battle wild Pokémon with your own Pokémon (which interferes with the lore that's been there since gen I), the lack of content and postgame (hardly any sidequests aside from Mewtwo and the master trainers), the removal of features integral to the plot such as the Game Corner (out of coins lol) without even bothering to include something new, and so on.

They are objectively bad games and the reason people are upset is not because they 'hate fun', but because these games are a step down from the previous Pokémon games and they represent how Pokémon games will only get worse from now on.

Does it have nothing to offer besides providing kids with a point of nostalgia? Are the kids who love Let's Go today going to have a franchise they play their whole lives, or is this process just going to repeat itself again?

This game is condemned because it offers nothing for fans of the game. It only offers things for [1] people who liked the games when they were 10 and then never again after that, and [2] current 10-yr olds. The [1] group, for some reason, believes that Pokemon should only exist for these two factions, and that it should just pump out shit games for 20 years until it's time to do it all again.

If someone can't see the value of a franchise beyond its original games and the remakes of said games, that person isn't actually a fan—they're a nostalgia vampire.

It's great that your little nephew liked this game. Maybe he'll continue to like Pokemon and be disappointed that no future games grow with him. Or maybe he'll never like another Pokemon game until this one's inevitable remake in 20 yrs, at which point he'll deride anyone who actually stuck around for the series he claimed to love.

Bullshit. I started playing the game last night with my fiance and I was been the support trainer.

Even with 2v1 battles I did not even attack that much at all cause her starter was one shoting each trainer herself. The trainers even has less pokemon which makes things even easier.

They are easy games but are pretty chill. I like the catching method but miss wild battles.

FRLG have more content so they are still worth a play through and are faster than their originals.

Nobody except the most dedicated autist can withstand SM/USUM 3-4 hours long worth of tutorial, escorting, handholding and follow the marker quests.

LGPE had like 20 minutes worth of tutorial and off you go to your adventure.

Little kids would gravitate towards the latter, USUM was literally a mistake

This. You go out for adventure and catch some mons. The most complex thing in LGPE is catch combos and NPC explicitly explain you will see more rare pokemons when you catch combo.

The shit with Festival Plaza, EV grinding, SOS calls, chaining SOS calls, Island Scan, Roto Loto are just unnecessary complexities for the sake of complexity that nobody like. If anything those are the things that require tutorial. Did anyone ingame ever tell you about Destiny Knot required for your eugenics breeding program? Nope. Did anyone ingame ever tell you about Everstone transferring Nature? Nope.

It's not as if your forced to interact with all 800+ Pokemon in any game. Most games gradually introduce both new Pokemon and mechanics, and the games' more technical aspects like EVs and IVs are kept hidden until the postgame.

The Safari Zone was my favorite area back in gen I when I was a kid. Why did GF remove it if they're so concerned with providing a familiar, nostalgic experience to their long-term fans?

Actually I only got this pokemon game out of curiosity. I haven't played since like 2 weeks after SM launched and all my friends were playing.

I actually don't play video games much nor have a constant interest in Pokemon, but LGPE had me curious enough to grab it on a whim and then I came here.

If a friend hadn't brought up LGPE, I wouldn't have completely forgotten about it coming out, but I picked it up and I'm enjoying it. It's everything I would have hated in a game when I was younger, but I really like this.

The thing is, people that have been out for years just see that wall of people and the end-state and it distances them. The actual logic of slowly learning them and starting from the bottom alludes them because as adults it's not really how we view things anymore. No one remembers learning the first 151 pokemon, they just know that when they look at them they know who/what it is.

So obviously what you're all saying makes sense from our perspective, but majority will just see something that makes them uncomfortable and go elsewhere.

If you want to get into Pokemon again, than the 800 Pokemon don't matter at all. Little Kids get into Pokemon all the time with every new Gen and they are fine.

We learn differently as we age, and we aren't constantly trying to learn as we age. I don't have near the time I used to have back when I was younger, and the other people in my age group feel the same way generally. Pokemon comes up as a nostalgic thing for us, but when it comes to embracing newer generations it just comes down to things seeming foreign and unsettling. We know we could learn and catch up, but we also look at the time we would have to invest.

Some of us have older children that they can play with and that helps, but those of us with infants and toddlers don't really have that luxury. Time becomes something people don't feel they CAN spend on hobbies and they'll just waste away the time instead stressing over everything.

Why bother fighting a trainer with a low level weak Pokemon that dies in one hit?

Least in the older games they had like 3 and it made you switch out if you had a type disadvantage instead of just mashing a single attack over and over.

They might of not been super hard but they were varied. Later gens will always have an edge over Kanto as the addition of more pokemon means they can have more varied teams.

Just don't fucking learn those moves, they're legitimately optional. It isn't like turning the EXP. Share off in Gen 6, which is on by default, you have to go out of your way to talk to an NPC to teach them to Pikachu or Eevee. Also, try rotating out a team of 10 or so instead of just 6, and catch less Pokemon. I just beat Giovanni and my team is only around an average of 44. Things are actually kind of hard if you do that.

We all remember the old games because of the sudden difficulty spikes (the infamous Whitney battle), the ambiguous sprites that made you imagine weird shit, the rumors, exploring confusing caves and the piss-easy-but-still-made-you-put-two-neurons-together difficulty that made the game engaging and at least forced you to pay attention to it. That's why we still remember these games and have nostalgia for them.

This soulless piece of shit will be forgotten in a few months by the poor kids that had the misfortune of WASTING their precious time with it. The original games were simple entertainment for kids, but these pieces of shit are junk food for the mind. I wouldn't want my kids to play this patronizing crap, I'd genuinely fear for their brain cells.

I condemn this game because this garbage is also being marketed to me and I've been playing Pokemon for 20 years now since I was 5. I'm supposed to pay SIXTY fucking dollars for this when it literally has less content than FRLG and is running of the engine ported from the 3DS games? So not only am I supposed to overpay for a game developed for cheaper hardware, I'm also overpaying for less content? Down with Gamefreak.

FRLG is honestly not superior. LGPE has:
