I love the idea of NPCs giving quests. I think we can do away with the idea of Pokeballs entirely - instead there’s a taming system very loosely based on how persona catching works in P5. You can choose which monsters follow behind you or which are maybe in a sort of ethereal non-present state.
When the monsters have classes the only purpose trainer classes would have would be to make it easier to befriend particular types of monster or perhaps make that type more powerful if you control one.
>hunger system If the game is just supposed to be a fantastical rpg adventure game, and not a gritty realism type game, a hunger system just wastes time.
>life simulation You’re trying to do too much. Pick what kind of game this is, is it a cute adventure RPG? A horror game? A life sim in a fantasy setting? You can’t have a life sim and also have the game feel focused on adventuring with monsters, in a life sim the monsters are at best a side gimmick. If the whole world revolves around control of these monsters, what is starting a farm for?
Being able to do absolutely anything you want isn’t always a bonus to a video game, it can make it feel empty and lack purpose.
