Not all modern graphics are realistic, anon.
Some games like Digimon and Yo-Kai watch are cartoony but they have way much better graphics that can at least tell you they are from modern times, not from 2005 like LGPE.

Gamefreak now think that everybody loved LGPE so they are gonna tone down the gameplay more, and remove more mechanics until the game is bareboned.

They probably won't bring items back, or abilities.
because LGPE sold more than Gen6 and Gen7 games.

Gamefreak will actually be happy because removing featureus is much easier and effortless than introducing new features.
Enjoy more hats for Pikachu and Eevee as Gen8 biggest features.

i hate the bland art direction and style more than actual graphic quality. it genuinely feels like its been designed for preschoolers, everything's oversimplified and the colors aren't too bright and the lighting isn't too extreme so as not to confuse or overwork their poor underdeveloped brains or over stimulate them. its just dull and not engaging

Actually out of Pokemon, Digimon & Yo-Kai Watch, I'd say Pokemon's models are the shittiest, well, not entirely. The Models themselves are alright for early 3DS but they lack animations and they're over 6 years old, Digimon has even better models though much less in number, but their games later on add animations or even improve them, they feel more unique, even the recolors, as for Yo-Kai Watch, you'd be correct if it were 1 through 3 but 4 has new models that look incredibly lively, outside of the two starters, LGPE doesn't have anything noteworthy, just the same overused stuff since X&Y.

Exactly. LGPE is a remake; the routes, cities, characters, story and mechanics were already designed 20 years ago. The visual components of the game were some of the few things that actually needed to be designed and yet they still did a shit job.

I don't actually think incompetency or laziness is to blame for LGPE's visuals, necessarily. They're probably what the developers were aiming for - it's just disappointing to anyone who has seen how much better other games can look on the same system for the same price. It also adds insult to injury considering that most people, including myself, see the pokemon games as having been in stagnation for the past ~6 years.
