What are you dreading about gen 8? For me it's

>60 new pokes or less
>uninteresting post game
>battle tower clone
>friendly rivals
>gym leaders still having a max of 3 Pokemon

I’m fine with 80 new pokemon max, with 20+ new forms/megas because they’re functionally new pokemon themselves. Gens 2, 6, and 7 had the best pokemon with the least “filler” in my opinion, and all have the smallest amount. I also really liked most megas/Alola forms, so I hope we see johto variants and non-kanto megas in gen 8

Im super optimistic for the over all gameplay. They already said, this is for pokemon fans and not going to be an entry level type of game meaning there will be plenty of options to sperg out while raising and breeding mons. I mainly hope for two things:
1) I just hope wifi battles will be smooth. I expect since the service is payed for and it is now on the switch, match-making should be a breeze and fully enjoyable.

2) I want to be blown off my feet by the scenery. I feel like the story will just as good as it has ever been (good but nothing revolutionary because they must appeal to kids as well) But this might be my favorite game of all time if they can make me jizz via scenery porn. I want to be impressed by the artistic direction but the detail of the models and the work in animation. Im thinking something like Metroid Prime 3, where I was playing and graphics made me say "they can really do this on the wii?" Imagine walking at night and the sky is LIT UP with glowy stars and milky galaxies casting light beams down on swaying grass as you walk. And they can do SO MUCH with the forests and water.

TL;DR: Im optimistic that this game will be amazing, but it will be perfect if they can get online battles just right and make the graphics and aesthetics so good, that people will hold a new standard.

Honestly not so much. A couple things I guess. I hope they dont skimp on character customization. I'm also scared of a chibi art style. Just animate some regular anime models please. Also, I'm scared certain legends wont be obtainable, but they did say this was a game for fans, so i feel like that wont be the case.

The story is going to be very handholdy....again. If Gen 8's a true game for the hardcore fans then USUM really did have the ultra changes. I wouldn't be so quick to accept Game Freak's word. I don"t trust them as far as I can throw them, which isn't any trust at all since I probably couldn't even begin to think of lifting that many people.
