It's strong starter substitute along with Arcanine and Cloyster which are stone evolution. This is why Blue uses it. For some reason Gyarados replaces Cloyster.

I never understood the appeal of Exeggutor.
It's just a palm tree with dumb looking faces.

Its a coconut palm tree, the faces are coconuts. The eggs are akin to seeds, if you look at seeds they are just eggs for plants complete with yolks. As for the psychic aspect, who knows. Why are mice electric? Why would a tortoise have metal cannons coming out of its shell? Why would a horse be on fire? Why would a fat fucking thing sleep in the middle of a road? Why would a giant have a jew nose? Why would a fire cat be a wrestler?

It’s a yokai pokemon. Remember that psychic was also kind of the “mysterious” type, so a tree yokai being grass/psychic makes perfect sense.

Exeggutor was good because it was a Safari Zone mon. Rare and exotic. It was also one of the more "out there" designs, and it's one of my personal favourite Gen 1 Pokemon. I'm not sure if Eggy or Victreebel is my favourite Gen 1 Grass type though.

I used to hate it, but i kind of like it today, especially after using it on pokemon Quest.
Also, i don't know why, but i loved the alolan form from the start. Maybe because it has a sleeker design, or just looks generally dumber.

I like to think they adapted by traded their secondary Dragon typing for Psychic once they were brought to Kanto's Safari Zone to protect themselves from all the Poison types and to make the best of the lack of nutrition that their Alolan environment provided them.

2 Psychics is weird but they were so strong in Gen 1 its forgivable. I like Starmie as a starter sub than Cloyster, but again, Psychics.

I liked exeggutor well enough but I absolutely love the look of the Alolan form. It's more fun to use, too. Regular eggy was always slow as shit even with the chlorophyll speed boost, the Alolan form has better typing so that going second isn't always an issue, it's a solid TR setter, it can work specs and occasionally band if you're feeling wild, there's even an ok curse set I've used before. Love this thing.
