At the start of the 3DS era when everything was shit people said "they're still getting used to the hardware, it'll get better later." At the end of the 3DS era when everything was shit people said "the hardware is holding them back, it'll get better on the next console." Now we're at the early Switch Pokémon games and it's looped back to the start.
Honestly I don't care that much whether a game looks like shit or not if it's good to play, and my big problem with Gen 8 so far is that its region looks even more linear than what we've already been getting, but you shouldn't give GF a free pass and make excuses for them when people have been doing so since 2013 and nothing has gotten better.
