Since we know this is the new gyms, what can we expect?

What puzzles will we get?
Will the gym leader themself be the goalie?
Will Totem Pokémon be involved?

The Gym Leader may tests your skills of variety, the Pokemon you choose to have on your team.

So some may focus in defence and others offence, so having a balanced team would be key.

Then once you complete the gym trial then you get to battle the Gym Leader, the trial going back hundreds of years in the Galar region (like football goes back hundreds of years and was played across shires, villages and even cities.)

Or....

The Gym battle is a cross betwen a football match and a Pokemon battle, you can chose to reduce the Gym Leader's team and score goals or just score goals.

Let’s Go had a kind of but not really version of Totems where you had to fight the Pokémon before being able to capture them, and the three birds and mewtwo has a similar boost

If not in the gyms, some form of Pokémon boss fight. It would be such a waste on something the franchise needed

Straight line. No trainers. No puzzles.
Talk to the gym leader, battle two Pokemon five levels beneath yours, get a badge.
Then walk to the next town and do it over again.

If we're lucky they might introduce a hard mode option that you can unlock with the Pokemon Ultra Ball Plus (MRP $60).

Prediction: They won't be like traditional gym puzzles. Before you fight the leader, there will be some kind of minigame (probably something related to soccer) that's kinda fun but that will get old really fast because every single gym will have that exact same minigame, but slightly modified.
