Day/night was a major aspect of Sun and Moon. It was literally in the titles, and we got different encounter tables by time of day for the first time since gen 4.

We're probably not getting seasons because there was a snowy area on the map, which is probably their location for that and I can't see them changing that with different seasons.

And the same shot that showed the snow area was at night so we probably are getting day/night cycles.

I'm pretty sure it was in every gen except 3, wasn't it? But it only affected encounter tables in 2, 4, and 7. I'm actually really glad they brought that back and just simplified it instead of listening to the whiners who want all Pokemon to be easily available at all times.

seasons gave us very pretty, changing environments, which was cool and all, and I liked that sometimes certain areas were only accessible during certain seasons

But they also could've done WAY more with it. If you really look at all the differences among seasons in Pokemon games just mechanically, it ends up basically boiling down to "is it Winter or is it not Winter"

Unironically yes, also because Ice would likely shitstom whatever Evil team is around either by hitting everything neutrally or by destroying the heaps of Zubats or whatever throwaway Pokemon that likely has an Ice weakness.
The obvious solution is to make the evil team use Steel types but that's too much effort for GF.

I really don’t understand why this wasn’t a recurring feature. It seemed so obvious that I’m surprised it wasn’t implemented earlier. Are you out of your phuckin' mind? seasons were amazing. That was one of the great aspects of gen V. The seasons, in a way added replayability because you'd want to go revisit areas you've already been in different seasons to see what they look like and what different pokemon were available in the wild and new secrets that were unearthed, like snowdrifts that have melted revealing hidden items and shit.

Whats there not to like about that?

You must hate games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley because that is the sole focus of those game. Its even worse for Animal Crossing because it uses real time for events so if you miss some goofy winter holiday item or event you literally have to wait a year to see it again....or you can just change the clock on your 3DS/Wii

Anon, that's exactly my point. Most countries have all four seasons (technically every single area on the planet does, but the weather and environment changes are not very noticeable in some parts) but Japanese people act like only their country does. You'd understand if you ever lived there. "Did you know Japan has 4 seasons???" is something they love to ask foreigners.

I don't think Gen 4 or 5 need remakes for a very long time, to be honest. Everything after the physical/special split feels modern enough to me, even with sprites.
