Just by the design of the cities and routes, the excellent mon selection, and the pacing of the first half of the game, I'd say it's got decent replay value, matter of fact I intend to replay X after I'm done with HG, and gen 5 as a whole.

I think the main reason why the gen 6 gym leaders get such a bad rep is because they came after the gen 5 gym leaders, which GF went out of it's way to make more relevant to the plot and appear more in the overworld.
Otherwise, the gen 6 leaders are about as memorable as the other gen gym leaders.
