god I love me the physical/special split and letting most pokemon use their stab moves
pre gen-4 feels like a chore when the majority of pokemon have completely bunk movesets

This. X/Y was fucking garbage besides mega evolutions. Would of preferred actual evolutions instead for things like Mawile, but I guess it's better than nothing.

Gen 5 also combined Centers/Marts together.

Least fave is Gen 6, but it had tons of great additions:
- Fairy-type
- Pokemon Amie/Refresh
- trainer customization
- gaining experience after catching a Pokemon
- simpler breeding and IV training
- Exp. Share's use of leveling up teams, allowing you to use different Pokemon teams throughout the game
