>>38120290I still used guides and the internet for Gen IV and had fun.
>Drifloon only appears on Fridays at Valley Windworks>Munchlax only appears on four randomized honey trees and still has a 1% encounter rate>Feebas only appears in four water tiles that are randomized each day in Mt. CoronetThe thing with Alola is that if you use any sort of online guide for finding Pokémon, it's a simple matter of obtaining them. Feebas has a 5% encounter rate if you fish at that one bubbling water spot in Brooklet Hill. You can just soft reset every time it isn't a Feebas. Same for Dhelmise or any other "rare" Pokémon.
The actual rare encounters were for Pokémon you could already obtain through evolving.
>Wild Salamence SOS>Wild Gengar SOS>Wild Poliwrath SOS>Wild Politoed SOS>Wild Kommo-o SOS>Wild Dragonite SOSThey were neat to have, but I didn't feel like I had something that most other players couldn't get since obtaining their prior evolutions and evolving them was easy enough.
Island Scan was also an alright idea, but they don't even appear in the Pokédex, which takes away most of the fun of owning them if you're trying to get them all.
I'm also not a fan of so many Pokémon being crammed onto each route when the only special encounter method is SOS. I had the same problem with Kalos. Give other more interesting methods like in Gen IV with the Poké Radar, swarms, dual slot mode, and the regional radio channels. Bring back headbutt trees and honey trees, and three kinds of rods placed at different points throughout the game. Bring back the Vs. Seeker and give Trainers upgraded teams depending on where you are in the story. Bring back the DexNav. Just make me feel like I should take advantage of everything this game has to offer instead of shoddily just dropping everything on one route and not fleshing out features.
