Yes, there are a difference between the Light and Dark Fae kind of like the difference between different sorts of black people. My rant about the Fae folk is strictly about the Unseelie Folk, as they are top dick and people usually think of the Seelie when portraying Faires forgetting about their dick kin.
The interesting thinh regarding the Seelie and Unseelie Fae is the politics regarding Humans and internal species conflict and power position.
The Unseelie will attack Humans for no good reason, but if a Human attacks a Seelie, they'll make it a "Crusade" because "ONE OF US, HOW DARE THOSE HUMANS." However, Seelies will only deal with fuckery from Unseelies to a certain degree. If an Unseelie actively causes strife for Humans, specifically to them to strike back against any sort of Fae, the Seelies will hold Fae Court, which usually results in execution of the shit flinger.
That being said, Elder/Elite Seelies don't give a fuck about Humans, they distrust and are super suspicious of them. If an Unseelie kills a Human within sight of a Seelie, you *usually* aren't going to get help.
Essentially, Fae folk are kind of like people; the Naive get taken advantage of by the bad parts of our own species, leaving those who survive and grow old to either become leary, bigoted, or outright xenophobic.
I applaud you for knowing your lore, and for countering my elaborate ruse. Most people just nod their heads and say "Yeah, Fae are dicks, he wrote alot about it, he must be right."
