Does anyone else not enjoy doubles/triples despite enjoying turn based combat in other games with multiple party members? I like having 4 or more party members in Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, Etrian Odyssey, Octopath Traveler, Final Fantasy, etc but in pokemon I just can't get with it. I mean for single player, not competitive.

Maybe it's because in the games the combat is mainly hit weakness to OHKO/2HKO the opposing pokemon, switch if at a type disadvantage. Or maybe it's because multi target moves are a bit more spread out, like water types knowing bubble, bubblebeam, scald, etc by level up but having to wait till you get access to the HM for surf before you have a way to hit both pokemon on the other trainers side of the field. Whereas in other jrpgs you have access much earlier like ma-ragi/bufu/mudo/etc in smt alongside the stronger single hit moves.
