Decided to exhaust all possible routes and catches before facing Morty, just so I could put a decent team together. I'm pretty happy with it now.
Brigade can go soon if I find another good Phys attacker (it has a -Atk nature), and I can replace Staryu with whatever Water types I find on the way to Cianwood.

I got pretty lucky in Victory Road and picked up a Marowak with both Rock Head and a Thick Club. Nature was fairly good too. Welcome to the league team Lady Boner!

Vs Lorelei

Manlyfist starts of the league, and ends Dewgong in one Brick Break, but not before it gets a Safeguard going.
>Slowbro
I send in Buzzt and Slowbro yawns at it. Thunderbolt spells a swift end for the bro.
>Cloyster
I use the Poké Flute as Cloyster sets up Spikes.
It then takes 3 turns for Thunderbolt to end it due to Protect Spam.
>Jynx
Bite trades with Ice Punch, and a second bite ends it.
>Lapras
I get really lucky on the first turn as Thunderbolt inflicts paralysis, Lapras gets fully paralyzed and its Sitrus Berry takes it out of the range where Lorelei is almost guaranteed to heal it with an item.
A second Thunderbolt finishes it off.

VS Bruno
>Onix 1
I start out with Froppy, who uses Hypnosis to be able to set up two Bulk Ups(this Onix has Roar).
Surf takes it out.
>Onix 2
It gets an EQ in for absolutely pitiful damage before falling to Surf.
>Hitmonchan
It gets in a Sky Uppercut as Surf misses.
Surf is exchanged with Rock Tomb, causing a speed drop.
Rock Tomb then misses as Froppy gets a Hypnosis in.
Surf hits it into low yellow health.
A Full Restore is used as I try to finish it with Surf.
I then have a big scare as a Sky Uppercut Crit knocks Froppy into the red. Also, Surf Misses, just to pour salt in the wound.
I send in Lady Boner in, taking a Sky Uppercut on the way in. She takes another before Bonemerang ends Hitmonchan.

It puts Lady Boner into the red with Mega Kick before dying to Bonemerang
>Machamp
Mary is sent in, taking a Cross Chop.
As she Rain Dances, Machamp makes a Scary Face at her.
Machamp then Bulks Up, and Surf comes up slightly short of doing half it's health. This is worrysome...
Another Bulk Up, this could turn ugly... and a Surf Crit might very well have saved Mary's life.

I send in Mary, who pretty much shrugs Outrage off.
Ice Beam then leaves Dragonair frozen solid.
Lance uses a Full Restore, but two Ice Beams finish off Dragonair.

Ice Beam actually doesn't come close to killing in one hit, but Dragonite is a dumbass and uses Safeguard. Sitrus Berry restores some of Dragonite's health, but not enough to Stop Mary's second Ice Beam from taking it down.
>Aerodactyl
Aerodactyl has some crazy luck as it has its Ancient Power not only score a crit, but also get the all stat buff. Surf fails to KO thanks to this.
The second Ancient Power does not buff it, and I'm happy- not sure the second surf could have KO'd if it did..

You may want Focus Blast on Reuniclus for Ghetsis's Hydreigon, which has no Dark moves. Throh is less bulky on the special side thanks to that nature. Looks pretty solid otherwise.

I'm not taking any chances with this guy. Hyper Beam is used to kill it instantly.

It's Hydro Pump knocks Emulti into the yellow as it recharges.
I send Froppy in, hoping to abuse Water Absorb for a free switch, but a Thrashing serpent hits the poor frog girl in the face instead.
Thrash keeps going, but Froppy's Hypnosis puts an end to it.
Buzzt comes in and takes out Gyarados in one Thunderbolt.

Final fight of the run.
Buzzt paralyzes it with Thunder Wave, but Flamethrower does a nasty number.
Manlyfist takes a Flamethrower on the switch in, it's good Special Def really shines here.
Earthquake knocks Arcanine into the yellow it gets fully paralyzed.
Manlyfist, who started the league run, finishes it with another Earthquake.

So Edguy went to rock it out in the Realms of Baba Yaga, so Omen has found her way back onto the regular team! Leveled her up some, then gave her a Shiny Stone to evolve, and traded in some Heart Scales to give her some new moves to play with. Afterwards I headed up north to Snowpoint, made various captures, (Black "Sabbath", "Sonata" Arctica, "Mastodon") and proceeded to torch another gym. Sorry Candice. I'll give you some credit because unlike the last two times, you didn't immediately throw out your Pokemon with 4x weakness to fire to die.

So I've quashed Team Galactic's plans and just barely managed to defeat Cyrus without any more losses. I've caught Giratina and there's nothing standing in my way from getting the last badge and facing the Elite. However I'm left in the all too familiar place where I'm left with an empty slot and not sure what to fill it with. S U C C and Carlos died at Ghetis's last mon, Eelektross (hadn't bought enough healing items)

NIGRAS was rehealed by Cheren so I did finish the battle, but I wiped so I lost.

Although I always consider beating the Champion the end of the run.

This game really does shit out gift pokemon, but I have a feeling I'll be thankful for that soon enough. I usually ignore gift/event pokemon in runs, but if this gets excessive even for the difficulty, I'll probably stop it.

Magcargo is unironically useful against a good bit of Johto and a majority of Kanto:
-Bugsy gets trampled.
-Whitney has no recourse if you Burn that Miltank.
-Morty may give it some trouble, but his guys are otherwise too frail to take repeated Flamethrowers if you have the TM.
-Chuck is a problem. Bench.

Mainly this is true if you can scrounge up enough BP to give it Earth Power.

Yellow is complete! That was the most deadly E4 so far, with half of my team being wiped out. I'm so glad to finally be done with Gen I, although it's not the last I'll be seeing of Kanto. The game mechanics in this gen are sometimes really fun, but often just annoying and confusing. Hopefully Gen II will be a much more enjoyable experience

I've never really used Slugma before though, caught it in a couple of Emerald runs but he's always overshadowed by all the other fire types. And a gen known for Water and trumpets is hardly a safe space for our fiery rockstar.
But it's one of the coolest designs so heres hoping he works out for me.

Pokemon Blue is done! E4 was pretty easy all considering, I did overlevel a little bit. Both with no item use mid battle I needed to be sure I could live through the harder battles. The only scare I had was Blastoise VS Dragonite when Dragonite did not die to Ice Beam. Otherwise a very quick and fun playthrough.

Next up is Silver; again I need a Nuzlocke Variant or extra rule. Any suggestions are welcome!

Well Burgh was a bitch and a half to fight. First his Vaporeon loved using Sand-Attack and had 2 hyper potions used on it. This meant that half my team was down in the yellow when it finally fainted so that when his Serperior came out I decided Mei should take it on. She managed to miss her first Icy Wind which may have been the different between her getting off a third and getting one-shotted by a seriously buffed up Leaf Tornado. Bertram managed to take care of it and the Roselia that came out next but I'm not happy that I lost my starter before she evolved. Also all the accuracy fuckery made me wish I brought Philly, but he doesn't help with the fact that most of my team is weak to Ice.

Honk and Pungent should be able to do it, but an encounter in the Hau'Oli Cemetery and another on Route 3 will help out a whole lot. On R3, Cutiefly and any of the Flying-Types will be immediately helpful, but maybe less useful in the long term. OK. Wedlocke's are sick, I avoided them for a long time because the premise sounded cheesy; but with how easy the base games can be for Veteran Nuzlockers - the new challenge of losing TWO Pokemon when one faints is incredibly fun. Silver version has been good to me so far, lost my Wooper by being greedy and her and Ghastly are my only deaths. Ran into a Shiny Stantler while grinding my Tentacruel (apparently you can find them at LVL20 by Surfing in Olivine, I just wanted a Tentacool but ended up with the fully evolved version!)

Question to bump the thread with discussion; have you ever done a Wedlocke and if so what were some of your more memorable pairs? I'm really loving my Stantler+Scyther pair myself.

Updating with a full team! Sort of. Spent time in Dark Cave scrounging around for a Dunsparce, which is why Linkle considerably over-leveled ahead of the rest of the team. As for the egg, well... I learned about that guy you can talk to in the Violet City Pokemon Center, Primo, and how you can get certain items if you tell him specific code phrases based on your ID number, sooo. Yeah, I decided to take advantage of that and got from him an Egg that will hatch into a Slugma. Thought that would make for a replacement of the Togepi egg I'd get that I can't use since I won Platinum with my Togekiss.
