Home is an excuse to raise the subscription cost of storing and transferring your Pokemon like Bank did going forward under the guise of having additional features as part of it. It could also lead to GameFreak making excuses for the new mainline games having bad online features "because players can do all those things in Pokemon Home". People make fun of Pokemon Sleep, but Home was the actual worst announcement of that conference and will have long term repercussions.

Home also allows Pokemon from Let's Go to be traded to Sword and Shield, effectively ruining the value of any shiny from the first 151. I believe Pokemon GO can also trade up, ruining the value of even more.

It’s on both. The most likely answer is if you have a Nintendo Online subscription, it’s included in that. Or you can buy it separately just like Bank via IAP (with an existing Bank sub being automatically transferred to Home).

You sweet summer child, I filled out my 'dex in IV and V with genned pokés (didn't actually make them shiny, they still felt "wrong" to me that way). There were distro threads to shiny giveaway servers ALL over this board back in the day. Shinies have been worth fuck-all as there was always a way to manipulate them (fuck, you could put the shiny Gyarados from GS into RBY, use it to force a ditto to turn shiny, THEN stick it back into II to use a shiny ditto for breeding, thereby trivialising the odds further, due to how shininess was related to IV's in Gen I/II. Fuck off with yourself, they only ever had as much worth as you attributed to them, they were easy as fuck to get otherwise if you really wanted.

Point is that back then, you actually had to bother firing up a program and genning it yourself. These days, kids can just watch their favorite streamer send them a genned mon directly, or ask their discord buddies to inject it for them, all without ever even owning any kind of way to inject them yourself. 1) how will the eventual shutdown of bank effect the entirety or RSE through USUM? It was one thing when RBY and GSC got cut off from the new hardware but now there’s well over a decade of games and it’d be a massive failure to make them useless as far as trading up pokemon. This is ridiculous. Is there any way the 3DS could interface with the switch through home directly to send out pokemon?

2) how in the flying fuck will Let’s Go and Go pokemon be imported into mainline games?
